1997 Mission

1997 Mission trip to Romanian Orphanage
.........Suta  Dragodona Orphanage September 27 to October 6, 1997

The  Mission...
Our Volunteers in Mission Team traveled to Romania in  Eastern Europe to provide medical care and construction repair to  orphanages in the orphanage.

The Problem...
Under the previous  Communist Government, Romanians were encouraged to have many children. Now  families cannot support so many children. Orphanages were used to at  least keep children off the streets. However, they are heavily  overcrowded. With very little money available for food, let alone upkeep,  these orphanages are in desperate need of help. The government can pay  $.85 per child, per day for food. That consists of boiled cabbage and  watered-down, mashed potatoes...that's it. Romania has the highest  ratio of AIDS-babies, so the medical team has it's work cut out for it.

The Solution?
We don't expect to be able to solve  any big  problems in 10 days, but we do hope to raise awareness in the U.S. We will  be updating this web site, hopefully, daily to keep you aware of what we  see...
